Proof capsule review guide

Review the evidence behind a submission.

Received a Bookcicle proof capsule? Use it to check the signed material, compare it with the submitted document, and inspect the authorship evidence available for that version.

How to review a proof capsule

  1. Request the capsule and the matching document

Ask the writer for their .bkclp file and the exact document version being reviewed. A capsule may include the original content; if it does not, you will need that content separately to check the match.

  2. Open the Bookcicle verifier

Upload the capsule at the verification page. Provide the matching original file when needed. Review each result separately, including content signature, authorship signature, and document match.

  3. Read the available authorship evidence

Inspect the recorded contribution and input provenance where present. Distinguish signed evidence from declarations, and note any unavailable information. An attestation or anchor, when included, adds a separate signal; it does not make missing writing history complete.

  4. Apply your own review policy

Use the findings alongside your submission requirements and editorial or educational judgment. Ask the writer to clarify gaps or provide the correct version when the document does not match. Request a new capsule when reviewing a later revision.

What does a proof capsule verify?

The verifier checks the signed proof material included in the capsule. With the original content available, it can check whether that content matches the signed record. Authorship evidence, platform attestations, and anchors are separate signals that may or may not be present.

A passing signature check is not a blanket certification of human authorship, originality, or factual accuracy. A capsule cannot reconstruct writing that was never recorded.

How to accept proof capsules

Start by accepting a .bkclp file alongside the document through an approved submission channel. Explain which version you need, who will review it, and how the files will be handled under your existing retention policy.

Agree on a process for mismatched documents and incomplete evidence. Receiving a capsule and verifying its contents are separate steps; accepting the file does not mean endorsing every claim it contains.
