Privacy Policy - Bookcicle, LLC.
Introduction
Your privacy is very important to Bookcicle, LLC (“we”, “our” or the “Company”). Accordingly, we have developed this Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) to clarify how we collect, use, communicate and disclose information from users who access our website at bookcicle.com (the “Site”). Additionally, this Policy outlines the measures we take to protect your information and how you may contact us about our privacy practices.
Processing your Personal Information (as defined herein) is necessary to provide you with our services, to protect our legitimate interests, and to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.
Agreement
BY USING THE SITE, YOU ARE ACCEPTING THE PRACTICES DESCRIBED IN THIS POLICY. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS POLICY, THEN YOU ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO USE THE SITE. BOOKCICLE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MODIFY OR AMEND THE TERMS OF THIS POLICY AT ANY TIME. YOUR CONTINUED USE OF THE SITE FOLLOWING THE POSTING OF CHANGES WILL CONSTITUTE YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THOSE CHANGES.
Information We Collect
We collect two types of data and information as follows:
- Non-personal Information – We may collect un-identified and non-identifiable information (“Non-personal Information”), including aggregated usage and technical details (e.g., browser type, operating system, access time, etc.) to enhance the functionality of the Site.
- Identifiable Information – We may also collect individually identifiable information (“Identifiable Information”) such as your name, email, device identifiers, login details, social media data (if you use social login) and payment information.
This information may be collected when you sign in, use our services, or provided by third party providers, analytics vendors, and public registers.
When you visit the Site or interact with our emails or ads, we may automatically collect usage data via cookies, web server logs, and web beacons.
User Content for Model Improvement (Opt-Out; Region-Aware)
By default, Bookcicle may use the text and other materials you submit (“User Content”) to improve and evaluate our AI systems (e.g., fine-tuning, safety filtering, quality testing). You can opt out at any time in your account settings (“Do not use my content for model improvement”).
EEA/UK and where required by law: we will only use your User Content for model improvement if you provide consent or where we rely on legitimate interests that are compatible with your reasonable expectations and do not override your rights. You may object at any time and we will stop processing for this purpose.
What we use
- Content you submit while the setting is enabled (default) and not marked “Do not train.”
- A sanitized copy (e.g., reduced identifiers) for dataset curation and audit.
What we do not use
- Content after you opt out (future submissions).
- Content you do not own or lack rights to license to us for improvement.
- Detected highly sensitive identifiers (e.g., government IDs, payment card numbers) — excluded during curation.
Third-party AI processors
We may use third-party providers to host and train models strictly on our behalf. We contractually prohibit them from using your User Content for their own model training or product improvement and require them to act only under our instructions.
Your choices
- Opt-out anytime: Turn off “Use my content to improve Bookcicle’s AI.”
- Right to object (EEA/UK): You may object to processing for model improvement; we will honor your request.
- Removal from future runs: You may request removal of previously contributed content from future training runs. Content already used to train a model may not be technically extractable, but we can retrain or replace improvement adapters going forward.
Legal basis and retention
Depending on your region, our legal basis may be consent or legitimate interests (with appropriate safeguards). We retain improvement datasets as needed for these purposes and legal obligations. We may keep anonymized or aggregated artifacts that do not reasonably identify you.
Use of Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
- To Improve Our AI Models (Opt-Out / Region-Aware): We may use your submissions to train, fine-tune, evaluate, and test our models by default. You can opt out at any time in your account. In regions requiring consent, we will ask before using your content.
- To Provide and Improve Our Service: Process your content to deliver AI-powered feedback. **Because AI output can be erroneous or plagiaristic, we log anonymised usage signals (e.g., rejected vs. accepted suggestions) to improve safety and encourage human-in-the-loop review.**
- To Moderate and Safeguard Content: Use automated tools to enforce our Content Policy.
- To Communicate with You: Send you service-related updates and support messages.
- To Analyze Trends: Analyze aggregated, de-identified usage data to improve site reliability, performance, and user experience (this does not include using your content for model training).
- To Comply with Legal Obligations: Process data as required by law or public authority.
AI Content Policy
Bookcicle leverages third-party services for AI assisted writing and services. This partnership assists authors in generating text (e.g., dialogue, narration). Bookcicle is not liable for the content produced by the AI service; it is your responsibility to review and integrate AI-generated content.
Third-Party Providers & Data Sharing
- AI and Hosting Providers: We may use third-party APIs or cloud services (e.g., AWS, OpenAI) to process your submissions. We require these providers to act solely as our processors and prohibit them by contract from using your content for their own model training or product improvement.
- Service Providers: We share data with trusted providers for services such as payments, analytics, and customer support.
- Legal or Compliance Reasons: Data may be disclosed to comply with legal obligations or to protect our rights and safety.
We minimize the sharing of personal data by anonymizing or aggregating where possible.
Data Retention
- We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to provide our services, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes.
- We may keep anonymized, aggregated data for research and analytics.
Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption (HTTPS) and access controls, to safeguard your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
International Data Transfers
We may transfer your personal data to countries outside your country of residence (e.g., to the United States). Where required by law, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or other approved safeguards.
Children’s Privacy
Our Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you are in the EEA/UK or where local law sets a higher age of digital consent (13–16), you must meet the applicable local age or obtain verifiable parental consent. If you believe a minor’s data has been collected, please contact us immediately.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data. To exercise these rights, please contact our Data Protection Officer.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
- Access your personal data.
- Correct or update inaccurate data.
- Delete your account or specific data.
- Object to or restrict processing.
- Withdraw Consent where applicable.
Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to amend this Policy at any time. Material changes will be posted on our website and are effective immediately. Your continued use of the Service signifies your acceptance of the updated Policy.

- Do Not Sell/Share: We honor state-law opt-outs for “sale”/“sharing” of personal information and targeted advertising.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC): Where required, we treat a valid GPC signal as an opt-out.
- Appeals: If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision email or contacting privacy@bookcicle.com.

5. AI Content Policy
Bookcicle LLC uses third-party AI providers to power our writing coach. We send small samples of your writing to these providers for generating assisted text (dialog, narration, etc.). Bookcicle is not liable for AI-produced content. **You agree to perform your own plagiarism scan and substantive human edit before any public use, and you remain solely responsible for that content.**
We provide a toxicity score (safe, sensitive, unsafe) for AI content. Unsafe content is masked in our UI and counts toward your monthly AI quota.
AI assisted writing is available to Bookcicle Premium users (up to 30 requests per month, with specified character requirements). All AI request purchases are non-refundable.
Automated Decision-Making & Profiling
We use automated systems (e.g., toxicity scoring and content moderation) to assist with safety and product integrity. These systems do not produce legal or similarly significant effects about you. You can contact us to learn more about how these systems work in the context of your use.
6. Third-Party Providers & Data Sharing
- AI and Hosting Providers: We may use third-party large language model APIs and cloud infrastructure to process your text submissions.
